Founded almost 60 years ago, Daemen College is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational, career-oriented liberal arts college with over 2100 students located on a 39-acre suburban campus in Amherst, New York. The school is part of the Association of American Colleges/Universities and also serves on the Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities. Daemen College was spending endless hours manually handing out Symantec anti-virus CDs to their students, and then verifying each student’s machine for those installs.

The Business Challenge
Daemen College needed a way to secure the network and free up resources for other projects. The best option was to implement a Network Access Control (NAC) solution to save time and money. The solution required the ability to automate student registration and to scan network computers and enforce Windows and anti-virus application updates in real time. Daemen College researched available NAC solutions and quickly discovered how expensive most are, until finding AllSecure Networks’ NetMD.
The Solution
The AllSecure NetMD appliance, with its agent-less solution, had all the capabilities and requirements Daemen College needed at a 30 to 60 percent cost savings when compared to other available NAC solutions
With NetMD, Daemen College no longer uses valuable manpower and countless hours installing and verifying anti-virus applications on every personal student computer. NetMD’s agent-less solution is controlled by the administrator with no JAVA required. NetMD has the ability to deny the student access to the network without shutting down the port, until the student remediates his/her computer.
Metal Detector dramatically enhanced our residential network. Since installing NetMD we have greatly improved our network speed and reliability. We have not had a virus outbreak impact the network since implementing NetMD.
